The health system is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant with a strong background in General Surgery to join its surgical team in Dothan Alabama.

This role includes a combination of operating room first assist inpatient rounding and preoperative/postoperative patient management.
You will work closely with surgeons residents PAs RNs and surgical techs in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.

Surgical experience is required inpatient OR and procedural exposure strongly preferred.

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Serve as first assist during general surgery procedures in the operating room

• Provide comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care including hospital rounding

• Conduct patient evaluations history and physicals and perioperative assessments

• Manage surgical consults and coordinate care plans with the attending surgeon

• Perform bedside procedures as appropriate (e.g. wound care drain removal suturing staple removal)

• Provide education and counseling to patients and families

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal surgical outcomes

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives workflow optimization and patient safety efforts

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Licensure & Certification

• Board-Certified Physician Assistant

• Active Alabama PA license or eligibility to obtain

• BLS and ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain)

Experience

• Minimum 12 years of surgical experience required

• Prior experience in general surgery surgical subspecialties or hospital-based roles strongly preferred
