Job Description: Lead Pre-K Teacher 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday Temporary 3 month position Responsibilities: Works to ensure an environment where the students feel safe and that their needs and wants are responded to in a caring and consistent manner. Plans and implements activities that promote the physical and emotional development of the children in Spanish. Duties will consist of: Executing a developmentally appropriate program in line with the goals of The Project Approach and the philosophy of The Pineapple School; Teaching children in the Spanish language and encouraging their development; Ensuring the classroom is in compliance of Texas Minimum Standards at all times; Conducting individual assessments for students maintaining individual portfolios to support these findings and communicating this information to the parents; Interacting with parents on a daily basis regularly reporting positive observations of each child; Leading mealtime activities and assisting children with personal hygiene; Utilizing Conscious Discipline strategies to promote cooperation constructive problem solving and academic success in the classroom; Maintaining a safe clean and organized environment inside and outside the classroom (this includes taking out the trash; proper sanitizing of tables counters bathrooms and toys; and organizing drawers cabinets and shelves); Engaging children in a playful learning environment both indoors and outdoors (outdoor playtime consists of two scheduled 45-minute periods each day); Gathering materials and supplies ahead of time for planned classroom activities; Preparing crafts and activities for and participating in special events and celebrations such as Easter and Día de los Muertos; Attending ongoing staff development activities including our evening monthly staff meeting and maintaining required level of training hours (at present 24 hours annually from start of employment current CPR & First Aid certification annual child abuse training; other requirements apply for caregivers with less than two years of experience in a licensed child care center in Texas) with documentation.
