KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead efforts to secure financing for projects/programs including grants equity and other funding sources.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions investors and donors to ensure adequate funding for project implementation.
- Support proposal development teams in preparing budgets that meet donor requirements.
- Identify and assess financial risks associated with projects including market credit liquidity and operational risks.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and controls to safeguard the organizations financial interests and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics compliance issues and emerging risks to management team.
- Conduct due diligence financial analysis and valuation assessments to assess the feasibility and risks of strategic transactions.
- Lead negotiations structuring and execution of transactions including drafting transaction documents and coordinating with legal tax and other advisors.
- Ensure timely assessment of existing structures policies and practices in the Finance Division with the support of the Internal Auditor.
- Oversee tax management functions for the organization and ensure proper financial reporting in line with regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
- Ensure capacity-building training and personal development for the finance team and non-finance staff on effective financial management and Finance processes.
- Coordinate the cost-sharing and allocation process on available budgets and supervise the cost allocation and amortization to ensure proper cost and revenue matching for the relevant cost and budget period.
- Manage the relationship with CPHIs external auditors manage the year-end process external audit preparation of annual financial statements and sign-off from relevant stakeholders.
- Develop annual fiscal year budgets and forecasts with the Executive Director to develop and implement grant and proposal budgeting and forecasting systems.
- Monitor the technical implementation of grants to ensure timely progress and according to submitted technical reports proposed strategy and work plans
- Lead the budgeting process and achieve financial targets and burn rate while optimizing resource allocation.
- Create and update forecasts prepare and review budget vs. actual variances identify overspending or underspending red flags and complete budget modifications as needed.
- Develop time allocation plans for assigned grants and contracts and participate in year-end close-out of grants and contracts in preparation for the annual audit.
- Develop clear SOPs for the finance management of the organization to drive effective collaboration and productivity.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal processes and tools related to finance and operational processes.
GOVERNANCE
- Ensure CPHI complies with statutory and legal requirements including statutory reporting completion of the annual report and the maintenance of relevant registers and organizational books.
- Provide advice to the Board and Executive Director on any financial responsibilities prevailing upon the organization.
- Engage in Financial Modelling and analysis and present periodic reports to the Executive Director and the Board
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Substantial budgeting budget/expense analysis and accounting experience.
- Knowledge of local law in taxation and local regulatory reporting procedures.
- Must have knowledge and application of QuickBooks accounting software
- Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Good capacity-building presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for social impact and an interest in the nonprofit sector
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Knowledge of grant funding sources and databases is advantageous.
- Understanding partnership development and collaboration strategies is a plus

- Masters degree in Finance Accounting or related discipline.
- ACCA/ACA/ANAN/CFA certified
- Minimum of 5 years experience in senior leadership role within an international NGO or donor-funded organization.
- Proven experience managing multi-donor budgets
- Strong understanding of international financial regulations compliance frameworks and audit standards.
