The Operational Permit Specialist is a versatile professional responsible for providing support and expertise across various functions within an organization. This role requires a broad skill set and the ability to adapt to different tasks and projects as needed. The Operational Permit Specialist will perform various assignments including identifying businesses that require operational permits contacting business owners to educate them on the process for obtaining permits assisting customers with the application process and assisting with the approval of submitted permit information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
Maintain vehicle and assigned equipment in clean and proper working order.
Respond to businesses that require an operational permit and educate the owner of the process for obtaining permits.
Ensure all work is documented appropriately in accordance with department policies.
Assist deputies assigned to the operational permit team in enforcement of the adopted fire code.
Create a schedule for site visits and utilize mapping capabilities to ensure efficiency.
May be assigned to any Bureau in HCFMO to perform other duties as directed by a supervisor or senior staff member.
Functional Support:
Collaborate with assigned bureaus to assist in projects initiatives and operational tasks ensuring smooth workflow and communication.
Project Management:
Assist in planning executing and monitoring projects from inception to completion ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Customer Service:
Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders addressing inquiries and providing assistance as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare reports presentations and documentation to communicate findings project status and recommendations to stakeholders.
Training and Development:
Participate in training programs to enhance skills and maintain and/or pursue certifications in specific areas such as project management quality assurance or technical specialties.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform as a member of an Incident Management Team during emergencies or disaster situations.
Maintain situational awareness of all HCFMO activities.
Serve on committees boards or other teams as assigned by the Fire Marshal or designee.
Perform assigned tasks safely and report initial accidents injuries or health exposures in accordance with accepted safety practices and HCFMO policy.

Education and Experience:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
General computer/iPad use and knowledge to include applications such as Microsoft Office.
Licensure:
At date of hire possess a valid drivers license through the State of Texas minimum Class C

Two (2) or more years of experience in customer service.

Salary:
$24.42 - $28.17 Hourly
Dependent on Qualifications
Based on 26-Pay Periods
