We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our AM&M Technical System Integration Authority (TSIA) Office is hiring a Director Verification & Validation (TSIA). This critical leadership role reports directly to the VP Technical Systems Integration Authority and serves as the single point of accountability for the Verification and Validation department within Asset Management and Maintenance.

The Director provides both strategic and day-to-day leadership in developing implementing and ensuring compliance with systems engineering and integration standards for high-value multi-modal transit systems. This role supports the full system life cycle helping the organization meet its corporate goals while ensuring safe reliable operations.

What will I be doing
  • Directing verification validation integrated testing commissioning and integrated assurance standards and processes.
  • Responsible for and owns the Verification and Validation standards and assures compliance to standards throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Manages complex Verification and Validation issues and risks facilitates effective conflict resolution and communicates with intra agency divisions regulators contracted partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Develops and leads a Centre of Excellence that provides specialized Verification and Validation expertise to intra agency divisions project delivery teams and external stakeholders to ensure safe and reliable asset operations.
  • Ensures effective business processes and capabilities are in place for the technical reviews in accordance with IDR (Inter Disciplinary Review) practises acceptance testing verification and approvals with respect to reliability availability maintainability and safety (RAMS) of multi-mode transit (Rail Rapid Transit & Bus) capital works State of Good Repair and Maintenance activities throughout the system life cycle.
  • Directs provides oversight or supports the review and auditing of outsourced design for compliance to required Systems Engineering and Integration and System Assurance (RAMS) program activities and reporting requirements needed to evaluate overall system integration performance reliability and ability to meet contracted requirements and customer levels of service.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with senior organizational leadership and gains trust with stakeholders (e.g. customers other business units tenants local transit) to foster good relations gain support develop resources drive results realize program/project outcomes manage conflicts and represent the needs of customers stakeholders operations and maintenance.
  • Leads the development and presents materials to a variety of internal and external audiences to engage staff/stakeholders and promote further awareness and buy-in of Metrolinx objectives and the Metrolinx strategic plans.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • University Degree in Engineering and/or rail sector and related industry experience or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more multi-mode transit systems (Rail Rapid Transit & Bus) Systems Engineering and/or delivery testing and commissioning operations and maintenance of multi-mode transit systems or related industries.
  • . or ability to register required. Post-graduate degrees or certificates in systems engineering or equivalent experience is considered beneficial.
  • Proficient in vendor management to be able to manage development and delivery of externally provided products and services (e.g. negotiate contracts interpret compile and administer contracts and memoranda of understanding (MOUs))
  • Knowledgeable in transformational change management risk management and assessment initiatives to be able to adapt to new or changing requirements and lead change throughout the organization reflecting on lessons learned to analyze evaluate and define problems/challenges identify alternatives and make timely decisions to manage risk and address issues.
  • Knowledgeable in multidisciplinary railway rapid transit and/or bus engineering.
  • Knowledgeable in the planning validation acceptance testing transition to operations and hand back of rail fleet and related industry infrastructure.
  • Proficient in progressive validation and compliance assurance (Project Gateways)
  • Proficient in standards development management and control.
  • Proficient in engineering change management
  • Proficient in the oversight evaluation verification validation and assurance of systems and systems integration to achieve performance requirements consistent with the organizational strategic plan customer level of service and business objectives
  • Proficient in the application of the systems engineering process including systems integration requirements management configuration management integrated design logistics management and interface management
