Job Duties

This nursing faculty position has a wide range of professional responsibilities including but not limited to:

Develop implement and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program.
Design implement teach evaluate and revise the curriculum. Faculty should provide evidence of education and experience necessary to indicate that the faculty member is competent to teach a given course.
Develop and evaluate student admission progression retention and graduation policies within the framework of the controlling institution.
Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students in accordance with requirements of the Financial Educational Rights and Privacy Act (20 USC 1232g).
Provide opportunities for and evidence of student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectiveness.
Document actions taken in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program review.
Create and maintain effective collegial relationships with students faculty University and clinical agency staff and administration.
Model professional evidence-based nursing is sensitive to diverse and multicultural considerations.
Establish and maintain professional and ethical boundaries with students co-workers and others in all learning environments.
Participate in University service and events; and
Perform other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications

1. An earned Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
2. Evidence of current experience in nursing practice (minimum of five years).
3. Ability to teach conduct research/creative activities and provide service.
4. A current unencumbered license as a registered nurse or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Additional Considerations

1. A terminal degree in the discipline (PhD DNP EdD) with nursing focus.
2. Substantive specialization or certification in a nursing specialty field.
3. Experience teaching in clinical environments and virtual simulation learning platform.
4. Knowledge of higher education and nursing accreditation processes.
