Job Description

DEPARTMENT:
Continuing Education

STATUS:
This is a temporary non-benefit eligible position and employment is determined on a course-by-course contract basis.

PAY RANGE:
Pay is determined by Continuing Education

FLSA:
Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Conveys knowledge of the subject area in an effective manner for successful student learning outcomes
  • Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Remains current in practices trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Maintains attendance records and submits completed rosters to the Continuing Education Center
  • Meets all assigned classes and makes alternative arrangements for the class when absence is unavoidable
  • Uses available equipment and materials to develop appropriate and effective teaching methods to facilitate student learning
  • Provides quality customer service and works professionally and collaboratively with students staff public potential students and the College community
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships. Fosters positive student and community relations
  • Submits completed liability and evaluation forms as applicable
  • Works professionally with Continuing Education staff to aid in the educational process
  • Follows policies and guidelines established in the Continuing Education Instructor Handbook
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Reports to the Director of Continuing Education

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education Policy 730 requires the following minimum qualifications for faculty in career and technical disciplines:

  • Three years experience in the occupation to be taught OR
  • An equivalent number of years of postsecondary education in the career/technical field combined with work experience in the career/technical discipline AND
  • Teaching competency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Masters Degree
  • Competency in the use of computer and presentation software

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively teach content material using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning
  • Competency in the use of computer and presentation software and proficient computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community
  • Demonstrated skill in creating and managing a work climate of collaboration collegiality and teamwork
  • Ability to provide quality service and create a welcoming and supportive environment
  • Ability to work with students colleagues and supervisor in a collaborative and professional manner
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships with staff students and public
  • Ability to follow and issue directions
  • Skill dedication and aptitude for working with student
  • Demonstrated communication presentation customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to meet all assigned classes
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
  • Ability to perform a Medium Duty job according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects
