As DevOps Team Leader you will drive automation reliability and scalability across Opayos high-volume payment platforms. This role ensures seamless delivery of applications through Development Test and Production environments using modern Continuous Delivery practices.
Operating in a 24/7 mission-critical environment you will lead a team focused on maintaining system resilience accelerating deployments and enabling innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence:
Maintain and support Opayo applications (Payments In/Out) using advanced monitoring tools and custom scripts.
Proactively detect troubleshoot and resolve issues to meet stringent SLAs.
Technical Leadership:
Remain hands-on (approx. 80% technical) while guiding team priorities and workload.
Act as the primary technical escalation point and shape technology strategy.
Drive adoption of modern DevOps practices including Infrastructure as Code CI/CD pipelines and automated patching.
Team Leadership & Development:
Set clear objectives review progress and manage performance.
Recruit mentor and upskill engineers to build a high-performing collaborative team.
Foster a culture of innovation inclusion and continuous improvement.
Strategic Influence:
Partner with Development Infrastructure and Security teams to align DevOps initiatives with organisational goals.
Champion automation and modernisation to reduce risk and accelerate delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash).
Expertise in monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk Datadog).
Proven experience with automation/configuration tools (Jenkins Gitlab and ArgoCD).
Background in high-availability high-transaction production environments.
Experience managing and developing technical teams.
Preferred:
Knowledge of payment gateway technologies and compliance frameworks (e.g. PCI DSS).
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
Key Metrics
Maintain system uptime in line with SLAs.
Ensure all releases follow defined CI/CD processes.
Active participation in on-call rotation.
