The role
ThePrograms Support Officeris responsible for facilitating Childrens Hospital Foundation play and distraction programs for families at Queensland Childrens Hospital. This role supports the delivery of quality child facing entertainment and distraction programs and initiatives including Kidzone playroom Loans Bedside Play and supports the Foundations in-kind donation program.
This is a casual opportunity to support program delivery during the busy festive season. Hours will be approximately 8.30 am 3.30 pm Monday to Friday. This role has an immediate start date and will conclude 31 January 2026. Please note our office closes from Wednesday 24 December until Friday 2 January 2026. This role would not be required during this time.
Working closely with the Impact team and volunteers you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the daily operational requirements of our Kidzone playroom.
- Providing support to children and families accessing our Kidzone playroom.
- Ensure Kidzone child minding is delivered within care restrictions and is considerate of children with higher needs.
- Supporting the delivery of our Loans Bedside Play emergency clothing and gifting.
- Recording and maintaining data.
- Supporting the training and daily coordination and performance of program volunteers.
- Encouraging a positive culture amongst staff and volunteers demonstrated by leading by example.

Key criteria
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will be highly regarded.
- First Aid Certification preferred but not essential.
- Min 1 year experience delivering social wellbeing programs and services in the healthcare childcare or family service community including completion of relevant documentation and reporting.
- Experience in creating and running childrens activities and providing supervision to multiple children.
- Experience with working with children and young people living with a disability.
- Experience in de-escalating childrens behaviours and high stress situations without bias.
- A strong understanding of professional boundaries privacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to build rapport and relationships with a wide variety of people.
