The Role (AKA: The Hero Cape Youll Be Wearing)
As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner youll be a supporter a strategist a behaviour detective and occasionally the person who teaches everyone to breathe again after a meltdown.
Youll be doing things like:
Evaluating developing & delivering evidence-based support plans
Creating meaningful goals using a positive behaviour support framework
Building capacity in the people who support our participants families carers friends support workers
Working alongside a brilliant multidisciplinary team
Championing the reduction (and elimination!) of restrictive practices
And because we like to keep it real:
This is NOT a stepping stone job to becoming a psychologist.
Its a meaningful legitimate highly skilled career all on its own.
If you want to be a Psychologist one day Amazing.
But PBS is not the warm-up act. Its its own headline show.
About You
Youll thrive with us if you:
Have a degree in OT Speech Pathology Social Work or similar
Have experience creating implementing & reviewing behaviour support plans
Hold NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner status (suitable core proficient advanced or specialist)
Do NOT hold a BSP registration Its ok we can help you get there!
Have a genuine passion for disability support
Have experience working with challenging behaviours
Love working with humans AND love writing (Yes there will be paperwork)
