Job Title: Lead Consultant (Real-Time Optimization)

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Employment Type: Full-time

The job

Experienced Lead Consultant to spearhead real-time optimization projects for refinery and petrochemical operations using AVEVA Process Optimization software. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end implementation collaborate with cross-functional teams and support presales activities. This role requires a strong background in process engineering simulation tools and optimization technologies.

Key responsibilities

Project Implementation

  • Participate in project kick-off and design specification meetings

  • Lead the preparation of Functional Design Specification (FDS) documents

  • Configure AVEVA Process Optimization applications

  • Conduct model reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)

  • Oversee site commissioning and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)

  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation

Training & Support

  • Deliver user training sessions

  • Provide ongoing application support (on-site and remote)

Presales Engagement

  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop technical proposals

  • Assist in cost estimation and solution scoping

Essential requirements

  • Bachelors Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in refinery and petrochemical sector

  • 5 years of experience in real-time optimization projects

  • Hands-on experience with process simulators (e.g. PRO/II HYSYS Aspen Plus PetroSIM)

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Willingness to travel up to 40% (domestic and international) during project execution and presales support

Desired skills

  • Familiarity with refining economics and enterprise-level optimization

  • Knowledge of Advanced Process Control (APC)

  • Exposure to enterprise/site-level network architecture

  • Proficiency in VBA macros

  • Experience with plant data systems (e.g. OSI PI Honeywell PHD LIMS)
