Position Summary: Youth and Family Counselor
The Youth and Family Counselor provides trauma-informed family-centered clinical services to youth and families experiencing family violence. This position serves clients at Bruce House SBYs emergency shelter for youth ages 1217 as well as Chloe House and REACH our shelter programs for pre-adjudicated youth ages 1217 involved in the juvenile justice system.
The Youth and Family Counselor works to reduce violence promote emotional healing strengthen communication and stabilize family systems. This position is embedded within SBYs residential programs and collaborates closely with program staff to support early intervention family reunification and long-term stability for youth and caregivers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed individual and family therapy to youth and caregivers impacted by family violence child abuse neglect or family conflict.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments develop treatment and safety plans and revise them as needed in collaboration with clients and program staff.
Deliver on-site crisis intervention de-escalation and stabilization support for clients in shelter programs.
Facilitate psychoeducation and skill-building groups for youth and families on topics such as parenting skills communication conflict resolution emotional regulation and healthy relationships.
Support clients in navigating and accessing appropriate community resources such as family counseling parenting supports and mental health or legal services.
Coordinate care with case managers schools community-based therapists and other providers to ensure continuity and alignment of services.
Provide consultation and coaching to residential staff to enhance trauma-informed and family-centered responses to conflict and crisis.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical insight to care planning and family reunification efforts.
Maintain accurate timely and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with SBY policies and funder requirements.
Collect and report data related to client progress and program outcomes as required by SBY and funders.
Participate in weekly clinical supervision with the Director of Clinical Care.
Engage in ongoing professional development training and reflective practice to strengthen clinical skills and cultural responsiveness.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Care or designee.

Qualifications
Masters degree in social work counseling psychology or a related field.
Licensure to practice in Washington DC independently or under supervision (LGSW LICSW LGPC LPC).
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care family systems and crisis intervention.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility to travel between sites across DC; availability to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet client needs.
Commitment to equity inclusion and culturally responsive practice.

Additional Information
This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Clinical supervision toward independent licensure will be provided. Some evening hours may be required to accommodate client schedules.
If an offer is extended the candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check FBI fingerprinting and any additional screenings required by funders or licensing bodies.
