Job Summary

Transportation Manager

The Transportation Analyst role is focused on execution and driving internal process change not rate negotiations. The core focus is rapid execution of cost synergies and process standardization. Need someone with implementation/project ownership experience.

PAYRATE: $50.00 hr
LOCATION: Richardson TX 75080
POSITION: Contract
SCHEDULE: 8:00am-5:00pm

The ideal candidate needs a powerful blend of analysis speed and internal negotiation:

1. Crucial Background: Proven experience in Transportation Operations and a demonstrated ability to negotiate/drive process and cost changes with internal stakeholders.
2. Top Skills (Prioritized): Analytical skills and Speed of Execution are paramount. Relationship building is also key as the CSS team is open to change but requires strong direction and partnership.
3. System Knowledge: Familiarity with the systems currently in use is beneficial: two different niche ERPs (DD and Supco) and Reconex (TMS for customers). They will also need to address the lack of a platform for tracking inbound shipments.

  • Under limited supervision evaluates designs and continuously improves the execution of transportation management within the distribution system including fleet designs sizing and utilization and procedures to maximize delivery efficiency.
  • Gaining deep operational knowledge of how the CSS division (DD and Supco) currently manages its transportation work. Driving savings initiatives by partnering closely with CSS warehouse teams and buyers. Identifying and executing productivity opportunities within the CSS logistics workflow. Leading the integration of all geographic logistics (US national regional and international) encompassing LTL Small Package Ocean and some TL freight modes.
  • Researches and analyzes freight costs and classifications delivery methods and delivery schedules to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Purchases and schedules transportation to move materials in compliance to route guides in order to achieve optimum traffic routes.
  • Manages freight damage and claims.
  • Keeps inbound and outbound schedules feasible balanced and current.
  • Maintains databases of freight costs and transportation networks.
  • Negotiates transportation rates in accordance to company guidelines and standards.
  • Conducts cost studies evaluates equipment availability and service levels to develop negotiating leverage identify alternatives and reduces costs.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced transportation analysts.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires bachelor degree or equivalent combination
  • Requires 8 years of experience
  • Requires at least 3 years as a manager
  • Knows principles and methods for moving people or goods by air rail sea or road including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Knows industry and regulatory trends.
  • Requires effective negotiation skills.
  • Must know how to use Transportation Management Systems to optimize transportation networks.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • May require knowledge and understanding of the practical impact of import and export regulations in a wide range of countries.
