Opening Paragraph:

We are seeking a technically proficient Smart Meter Sales Specialist to drive sales of innovative metering solutions to utility companies across Australia. This role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong relationship-building skills to engage with utility metering managers and metering shop personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and execute sales strategies targeting utility metering managers and distribution network operators
Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at major Australian utilities
Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to metering shop personnel
Provide expert consultation on smart meter deployment projects and AMI implementations
Collaborate with engineering teams to customize solutions for specific utility requirements
Support tender processes and respond to RFPs for smart meter projects
Achieve sales targets and expand market share in the Australian smart metering sector

Required Skills & Experience:

Electrical Engineering Background
Understanding of Smart Metering Technology
Knowledge of Metering Protocols & Standards
Understanding of GCP framework within DLMS/COSEM architecture
Knowledge of meter firmware architecture register mapping data channels and configurable parameters.
Experience with Industrial IoT platforms
Understanding of edge analytics local data processing and distributed decision-making capabilities in smart grid infrastructures.
Familiarity with MDMS platforms head-end systems and utility data integration requirements.
Understanding of IoT security protocols and critical infrastructure protection.
Knowledge of ACMA device requirements safety standards and electrical compliance frameworks.
Experience with Australian meter certification processes including ACMA type approval and National Measurement Institute (NMI) pattern approval requirements.
Proven track record of selling to Australian utilities and distribution network operators
Deep knowledge of Australias energy market structure and key industry players.
Experience selling complex technical solutions to engineering and operations teams.
Hands-on experience with meter commissioning register configuration and troubleshooting firmware issues.
Ability to support large-scale meter deployment projects from concept to implementation.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts including DLMS/COSEM protocols register structures and firmware capabilities to diverse audiences.
Capability to engage with metering shop personnel on detailed technical specifications register mapping and troubleshooting procedures.
Strong networking skills with utility metering managers and technical personnel.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

5 years experience in utility sales or smart metering industry
Professional engineering registration with Engineers Australia
Existing relationships with major Australian utilities (AGL Origin EnergyAustralia Ausgrid etc.)
Experience with major meter manufacturers (LandisGyr Itron Schneider Electric)
Hands-on experience with meter testing commissioning and firmware updates
