Sydney Water is undertaking a 10-year multibillion dollar Infrastructure program to renew expand & build infrastructure to support a more sustainable resilient and efficient water network for Sydneys growing population. We provide safe drinking recycled wastewater and stormwater services with a focus on reliability affordability and environmental sustainability. About This Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide Major Projects with operational advice throughout the project lifecycle. The role will require an Operations subject matter expert (SME) with a background in cut-ins commissioning asset integration planning and execution operational readiness documentation handover asset adaptability and flexibility from both a strategic planning through to a commissioning and handover viewpoint. The SME will be required to advise on issues and risks pertaining to the Asset Owner Manager Operators and other end users. A degree of independence from existing operating capability is necessary as not all assets developed will necessarily be intended for long term operation by in-house teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical integration for major projects ensuring operational considerations are embedded throughout development and delivery with significant financial impact.
  • Provide strategic operational advice to support planning commissioning and network integration for the infrastructure investment program.
  • Oversee integration from early design through commissioning and handover ensuring new infrastructure complements existing networks and customer outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate whole-of-network risks developing strategies to prevent negative impacts and align integration with long-term efficiency and growth.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and alignment with external stakeholder requirements across the project lifecycle.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A relevant degree in engineering operations or a similar field with postgraduate qualifications or industry accreditations viewed favourably.
  • Over 12 years experience in water utilities or large network infrastructure with expertise in asset integration and operational management across planning design construction and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to influence governance strategies contribute to high-level decision-making and address emerging risks in complex projects.
  • Strong capability to build and maintain strategic relationships inspire confidence in risk and compliance frameworks and provide trusted advisory support.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex issues involving diverse stakeholders and shaping direction for high-profile projects and programs.
