Position Summary
The Classical Languages department seeks a passionate and energetic teacher to fill a full-time regular teaching position beginning academic year 2026-27. Candidates should be interested in being part of a collaborative group of teachers and working with highly motivated high school students in a diverse mostly residential applications will demonstrate candidates ability and willingness to be active participants in the Academys academic extracurricular and residential programs.
Academic Position Requirements
Candidates should be prepared to teach Latin and Ancient Greek. We especially encourage applicants with demonstrable knowledge of and facility with the two languages and ideally among the authors we teach.
- An advanced degree in Classical Languages or a closely related field is preferred.
- Experience teaching in a classroom setting is preferred. Equivalent experience or recent pertinent academic study may be considered.
- Commitment to embrace fully the value of unified teaching objectives through common syllabi and grading practices and to work together to develop and edit common course materials.
- Willingness to chaperone study tours during vacation; some knowledge of Italian a plus.
- Connection to larger Classical Languages community via committee work on local or national chapters and/or interest in supporting Classics clubs at school or the JCL convention or interest in growth in some of these areas.
- A commitment to diversity equity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

Compensation for this position is determined using a structured 25 step system that accounts for relevant years of professional teaching experience and highest degree earned. The salary range is $55566 (step 1) to $123480 (step 25).
