Contra Costa CountysDepartment of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking talented and motivated individuals to fill one (1) full-time Child Support Supervisor vacancy located in Martinez CA! The Department has received multiple program awards for their hard work and outstanding achievements within the program and is looking for someone who will continue this standard of excellence on our team.

This role is involved in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and strategic goal planning. As a member of the Departments management team you will need to work collaboratively with all the DCSS units the public and other government agencies. Success in this role is measured by the success of your team and your willingness to be a service-oriented leader.

What you will typically be responsible for:
  • Supervising child support caseworkers and evaluating their workload
  • Identifying training needs for staff and training them
  • Preparing referrals for Child Support Attorneys for court
  • Handling complaints or questions on child support cases and procedures
  • Overseeing the collection of obtained judgments

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operators license will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a high school diploma G.E.D or equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time journey level experience in child support collections casework in a public Child Support Office or agency OR three (3) years of full time experience as a clerical supervisor with direct knowledge and supervision of work within the CA Statewide Child Support Enforcement Systems (CSE).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Child Support Services Performance Indicators
  • Ability to implement and support a Local Child Support Agency (LCSA) Child Support Services Strategic Plan
  • Familiar with Child Support Services Laws and Regulations

Selection Process

  1. Application Filing: All applicants must apply online at and submit the information as indicated on the job announcement by the final filing date.
  2. Online Oral Exam: (Weighted 100%) Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an online oral interview which will be reviewed by a group of subject matter experts who will rate your responses. The oral interview will measure candidates competencies as they relate to the the oral interview candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These will include the following competencies: Customer Focus Professional & Technical Expertise Decision Making Listening Displaying Ownership & Accountability and Oral Communication
  3. Final Selection Interviews: Scheduled for the week of January 12 2026.

Online Oral Exam: December 17-22 2025

Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the selection process.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect.
