Chief Operating Officer

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Execution

• Translate the companys strategic goals into actionable operational plans.
• Oversee daily operations across Diagnostics Life Sciences Lab Services Field Service Engineering and Customer Support.
• Ensure alignment between operations sales supply chain finance technology and customer experience.

2. Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

• Design and optimise operational processes to improve efficiency turnaround time and service quality.
• Lead initiatives on workflow modernisation automation digital tools and process standardisation.
• Monitor KPIs across operational teams and drive continuous improvement.

3. Supply Chain Inventory & Logistics Management

• Oversee procurement inventory planning warehousing distribution and fleet/logistics operations.
• Ensure cost-effective importation clearing cold-chain integrity and proper storage of reagents consumables and equipment.
• Minimise stock-outs expiries and inefficiencies through tight inventory controls.

4. Commercial & Customer Experience Support

• Partner with Sales Marketing and Product teams to strengthen customer relationships and drive growth.
• Ensure fast accurate order fulfilment and a consistent customer experience across channels.
• Monitor customer feedback complaints and service quality ensuring timely resolution.

5. Laboratory & Technical Operations Oversight

• Oversee laboratory operations equipment uptime quality management systems and compliance with ISO standards.
• Support Field Service Engineering teams to ensure technical installations maintenance and service excellence.

6. Compliance Governance & Quality Management

• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements in diagnostics product handling safety and quality standards.
• Oversee implementation of SOPs internal controls and operational audits.
• Maintain high standards of workplace safety risk management and compliance.

7. Financial & Operational Performance Management

• Work closely with the CFO to manage operational budgets optimise costs and drive profitability.
• Analyse business performance data to inform operational decisions and resource allocation.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives across the operational value chain.

8. Leadership Culture & People Development

• Lead mentor and develop cross-functional operational teams.
• Foster a culture of accountability efficiency innovation and customer focus.
• Support workforce planning competency development and performance management.

• HND or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science Biological Sciences Engineering Supply Chain Business Administration or related field. Masters degree (MBA/MSc) strongly preferred.
• Professional certifications in operations supply chain quality management or project management (e.g. PMP ISO 9001 CPIM Lean Six Sigma) are added advantages.
• 1015 years progressive experience in operations supply chain diagnostics healthcare pharmaceuticals or FMCG.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large multi-functional teams.
• Strong experience in diagnostics/laboratory operations product distribution technical service management or healthcare operations is highly desirable.
• Deep understanding of diagnostics workflows regulatory requirements and industry dynamics.
• Strong operational planning process optimisation and project management skills.
• Excellent leadership communication negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Solid analytical and financial acumen with a data-driven decision-making approach.
• Experience managing supply chain logistics customer service and technical teams.
