About the opportunity
The Engagement Officer within the Campus Life portfolio plays a key role in promoting and communicating the University of Tasmanias accommodation offerings to new and returning students. Working closely with the Head of Accommodation Operations and the University marketing team the position focuses on developing creative engaging content and campaigns to increase occupancy across more than 2500 beds in vibrant student-focused communities. The role also supports communications aimed at attracting short-stay and group bookings during the summer period ensuring messages resonate with students and enhance the reputation of campus accommodation.
This fixed-term part-time role requires a proactive innovative individual with strong communication skills and a flair for creativity. Responsibilities include assisting at Open Days Welcome events and online seminars as well as contributing to marketing initiatives that align with the teams principles of being resident-focused collaborative innovative and sustainable. Flexibility to work some weekends and outside standard hours is essential as the Engagement Officer helps deliver a safe connected and uniquely Tasmanian residential experience where students can thrive.
What youll do:
- Support awareness and occupancy by promoting the benefits of living on campus through targeted campaigns outreach and events to aid student recruitment and retention.
- Deliver engagement activities by preparing communications and initiatives that highlight the advantages of staying in student accommodation.
- Promote resident achievements by sharing stories and successes to build pride and showcase the value of university accommodation.
- Enhance communication and reputation by assisting in the development and distribution of promotional content that strengthens visibility and positive perception.
- Gather feedback for improvement by collecting insights from residents and engagement channels to refine communications and activities.
What were looking for:
- Demonstrated ability to write and speak effectively build positive relationships and engage with students staff and external stakeholders in a residential context.
- Skilled in using design tools social media and web platforms (e.g. Canva) to create compelling content with the ability to analyse engagement data and report on trends.
- Strong time management and coordination abilities with a proven capacity to work collaboratively to deliver high-quality engagement activities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in planning and supporting events and activities that engage students preferably in a residential setting.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in marketing communication event management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employment status) or the ability to obtain this registration.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 4 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $91488 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $73814 to $78195 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
