Our Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Programs team is currently seeking to appoint an Aboriginal Senior Heritage Officer to implement heritage initiatives programs and services at a regional level for aboriginal and environmental heritage!

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity; cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

About You

We are seeking an experienced and culturally knowledgeable Aboriginal Senior Heritage Officer to lead heritage initiatives and programs that protect and celebrate Aboriginal cultural heritage across NSW. You will bring strong expertise in heritage management archaeology or a related field combined with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal communities landholders and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills a collaborative approach and the ability to manage complex and sensitive heritage matters with integrity. You will be confident in delivering results influencing outcomes and applying project management principles to achieve program objectives. Aboriginality is an essential requirement for this identified role along with cultural knowledge and connections that enable you to provide informed advice and support meaningful heritage outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in heritage archaeology architecture Aboriginal cultural heritage management or relevant field.
  • Drivers Licence and willingness to travel.
  • This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.
  • Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
  1. is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and
  2. identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and
  3. is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
