Nature of Work

The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to operate maintain and perform preventivemaintenance and skilled repairs on fuel sites and automotive shop supportequipment across various city locations. The employee operates and services apetroleum service truck to include dispensing fuel and lubricants to cityvehicles trucks and heavy off-road equipment. Work responsibilities include orderingpetroleum and alternative fuels servicing all city-owned vehicles maintainingdaily records of all petroleum products and service records and repairing andrebuilding liquid fuel dispensers pumps piping valves vapor recoverysystems and special equipment. This position requires considerable independentjudgement in maintaining adequate petroleum supplies and departmental in this classification report to the Petroleum MaintenanceSuperintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one(1) year experience in petroleum equipment service and repair or anotherrelated mechanical repair field.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama drivers license. Within six (6) months of employment must beable to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with HazardousMaterial and Tanker Endorsements. Mustbe available for on call duty including nights weekends and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily outdoors and mayinvolve exposure to loud noise and adverse weather conditions such as rainextreme heat or cold. Physical requirements include the ability to reach aboveshoulder level lift up to 100 pounds unassisted walking crawling bendingstooping standing for extended periods and operating a motor vehicle andequipment.

Kind of Examination
