About the role

The Senior Advisor Talent Pathways (University) plays a pivotal role within the Future Workforce team shaping how we attract develop and empower the next generation of Rio Tinto Iron Ore talent. Providing governance and strategic direction for the graduate development programme youll ensure it remains aligned with business priorities and evolving capability needs.

Youll lead initiatives that enhance the programmes impact and build strategies to develop the skills our business needs today and into the future - cultivating strong foundations accelerating professional growth and supporting early-career talent to thrive in critical roles across our organisation.

This is a permanent role in the Capability Development Future Workforce team within the People function.

Reporting to the Manager Future Workforce you will be accountable to:

  • Provide clear governance and strategic oversight of the graduate development programme ensuring its design delivery and outcomes align with Rio Tintos business priorities values and future capability needs.

  • Set the strategic direction for the programme defining success measures guiding principles and standards that ensure consistency quality and long-term impact.

  • Lead the continuous review and improvement of the programme using data feedback and workforce insights to strengthen outcomes for both graduates and the organisation.

  • Partner closely with the Global Early Talent team to ensure alignment of strategy design and delivery leveraging global best practice while tailoring solutions to regional and business context.

  • Partner with HR business leaders and functional experts to align graduate pathways with workforce planning and capability development strategies.

  • Drive integration between the graduate programme and broader talent initiatives to ensure seamless development pathways and progression opportunities.

  • Monitor programme governance frameworks and ensure compliance with internal policies external benchmarks and best practice standards.

  • Promote innovation and thought leadership in early-career development staying attuned to emerging trends and translating insights into practical forward-looking strategies.

  • Foster a culture of learning inclusion and growth - enabling early-career talent to develop the skills and confidence to succeed in critical roles across the organisation.

  • Communication Skills: Confident presenter and communicator able to tailor messages to diverse audiences and convey complex ideas with clarity and impact.

  • Project Management and Delivery: Experienced in shaping and executing initiatives end-to-end - from scoping and stakeholder alignment to implementation evaluation and continuous improvement.

  • Digital Literacy: Adept at leveraging digital tools and systems to streamline processes reduce manual work and enhance the user experience. Skilled at using technology to facilitate connection collaboration and engagement across diverse teams and geographies.

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification is desirable.

Where youll be working

This role will be Perth based in our Central Park head office with flexible working arrangements on offer.
