Position Summary
The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation configuration maintenance and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of the SQL Server Warehouse ensuring its operational readiness (security health and performance) executing data loads and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams. The data warehouse supports an enterprise application suite of program management tools. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.
This individual will apply proven communication analytical and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit all Eze Castle systems investments and to assist in implementing new process improvement systems.
This position is part of a team that will provide an enterprise view and the analysis and resolution of enterprise issues pertaining to business data and application architecture and analysis. Members of the team will partner with the business divisions technology and operations to manage drive and support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives across all value streams. The focus will be on end-to-end improvement analysis measurement and cultural change.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes including monitoring of system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance availability and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
- Refine and automate regular processes track issues and document changes
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Share domain and technical expertise providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
- Knowledge on handling third-party tools for monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work in global and flexible hours (occasionally)
Position Requirements
- MS SQL DBA with 5 to 8 years of experience in large and critical environments.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience with backups restores and recovery models
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
- Experience working with Windows server including Active Directory
- Good knowledge on Configuring Agent Jobs and SSRS deployment.
- Candidate must have good knowledge of on SQL Server dynamic management views
- Good knowledge of SQL server Architecture.
- Hands-on experience on mirroring log shipping and Always ON
- Good knowledge of scripting. Understand and troubleshoot T-SQL Jobs
- Hands-on experience on SQL Server Clustering.
- Hands-on experience on Integration Services Reporting services and Analysis services
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Basic Knowledge in other RDBMS technology such as MySQL & PostgreSQL.
- Good Knowledge in any scripting language such as PowerShell / Python.
- Good knowledge in handling complex performance issues.
- Hands on experience in writing TSQL Scripts as needed.
- Troubleshooting performance issues and tuning slow running SQL.
- Hands on experience in Azure SQL databases and Azure SQL Managed Instances.
- Hands on experience in migrating on prem to cloud databases.
Technical Experience
- MS SQL DBA with 5 to 8 years of experience in large and critical environments.
Experience with backups restores and recovery models
Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors
Create and manage database reports visualizations and dashboards.
Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Microsoft certified in AZ 900 and DP 300 is added advantage.
Be available for on-call support as needed.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in an independent environment with moderate supervision
- Ability to work under a moderate noise level (i.e. working on an open floor with printers telephones and computers)
- Ability to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary
- Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures
- Sitting for extended periods of time
