Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven heavy machinery operator to join our friendly team at Living Earth.

About the role

As an Operator Organic Waste you will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery used for shredding screening transporting loading and unloading green waste. You will support the daily production processes by managing windrows assisting with tunnel batching operating onsite screens and helping with general labour tasks across the site.

This role is ideal for someone who is reliable hands-on and committed to achieving quality outcomes. You must be fully dedicated to Health & Safety follow all procedures and contribute positively to our strong safety-first culture. Full training will be provided and the position offers an hourly rate of $27.80.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Transporting windrows and green waste as required.
  • Shredding green waste daily weighing and recording data.
  • Loading kerbside material into decontamination lines and preparing batches for tunnel processing (mixing blending weighing and recording).
  • Assisting with turning windrows and updating records accurately.
  • Providing general labour support such as sweeping cleaning repairing pallets or helping other team members as needed.
  • Completing daily maintenance and service checks on machinery and operating equipment safely.
  • Operating onsite screens ensuring consistent output cleanliness and minimal product jams.
  • Assisting with other processes as instructed by the Supervisor in line with your training and skill level.
  • Actively participating in WMs safety-first culture and wider HSEQ programmes.
  • Following risk management processes to ensure operational and legal requirements are met.

Qualifications :

About you

We are looking for someone who is proactive safety-minded and eager to learn. Training will be provided but the following will support your success in the role:

  • Full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
  • Machine operation endorsements (Class 2 and W endorsement preferred).
  • Experience operating manufacturing or heavy machinery (advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience operating loaders diggers or forklifts (preferred).
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Physically fit and prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.
