Summary:
We are seeking experienced Excavator Operators to support critical transport and infrastructure projects across the Auckland region. This role is essential to the successful delivery of civil construction works involving the operation of heavy machinery for trenching earthworks and site preparation as well as contributing to related tasks such as kerb laying concreting and pipe installation.
Responsibilities:
Operate excavators ranging from 1.5T to 30T safely efficiently and in compliance with site protocols
Perform trench excavation bulk earthworks and backfilling activities with precision and attention to detail
Support site crews with kerb laying concreting pipe installation and other civil construction tasks as required
Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures and maintain a proactive approach to hazard prevention
Conduct routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance
Communicate clearly and proactively with site supervisors and project teams
Be available to work overtime shifts or after-hours when project demands require
Requirements
Minimum of 2 experience operating excavators in a civil construction setting
Valid Class 2 drivers licence with WTR endorsements (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
Strong situational awareness and ability to resolve on-site challenges promptly
Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour and extended physical tasks
Proven ability to adapt to changing site conditions while maintaining schedule integrity
Demonstrated reliability punctuality and a consistent commitment to safe work practices
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Experience operating multiple types of earthmoving or civil plant equipment
Ability to interpret site plans drawings or work instructions
Prior experience working within structured road construction or maintenance teams
Positive collaborative attitude with a willingness to support team objectives beyond core duties
