OT Application Architect (Contract starting Jan)

Where critical infrastructure meets real-world digital engineering.

This role sits at the intersection of Operational Technology and enterprise digital systems. As our OT Application Architect you will be designing the application layer that supports a 24/7 safety-critical environment. This is not generic IT environment you will be architecting decision systems that sit above assets that cannot afford downtime.

Your mission is to drive IT/OT convergence in a regulated industry. You will bridge the gap by designing secure high-availability solutions that pull real-time data from OT systems and expose it safely to enterprise platforms. You will work as the translator between Control Systems Engineers and Cloud/Digital teams ensuring data moves reliably securely and with operational intent.

At NCS you will work inside a high-performance specialist squad - Cyber Infrastructure Data Quality and OT engineers working as one team. With strong partnerships across SAAS providers and hyperscalers you will have access to modern Industrial IoT ecosystems and the tools needed to modernise a complex environment.

Qualifications :

You understand that software in a critical operational environment is operationally consequential. You are pragmatic comfortable around physical systems and capable of modernising legacy OT applications without disrupting existing critical operations.

You will bring:

• Industrial Expertise  Extensive experience in software architecture across OT-heavy environments such as resources energy and/or logistics
• Purdue Model Exposure  Understanding of ISA-95 and how to safely bridge OT Level 3 and IT Level 4 networks.
• Critical Systems Integration  Experience on integrating between OT Systems and core IT systems.
• Protocol Skills  Strong capability across OPC UA MQTT BACnet Modbus or similar industrial protocols.
• Edge & IoT  Strong knowledge of IoT and designing edge-processing pipelines that sync securely to the cloud.
• Cyber Awareness  Understanding of critical infrastructure security obligations when exposing operational systems to cloud environments.
• Modernisation Skills  Ability to uplift legacy OT applications into modern patterns while maintaining operational continuity.
