The organisation
Based in Toowoomba with offices in Ipswich Goondiwindi and Roma Tasc Community Legal Centre provides a range of services including legal advice and advocacy to clients across the Greater Southern Queensland region. The position
As an Intake and Assessment Officer you are the first point of contact for people seeking assistance from our service. Your role is to gather the necessary information from clients who call or drop in to our offices and then work with them to identify prioritise and action their support needs referring them internally for legal advice and advocacy or to external services where appropriate.
Working closely with volunteers social workers advocates and lawyers our intake officers also triage incoming enquiries for legal and non-legal support from external-referring bodies including law firms government agencies and other community organisations. The work is fast-paced and requires a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach attention to detail and a commitment to developing sound knowledge of the extent and limitations of the services our teams can provide.
Intake also assists in training volunteers provides back-up coverage for reception and other administrative tasks as required.
This position can be based in Toowoomba Roma or Goondiwindi with some travel between offices for training meetings and service coverage required.
The person
Demonstrated experience in a front-line role engaging with members of the public including people experiencing hardship culturally and linguistically diverse people and people with disabilities is highly desirable. Formal qualifications are not required but the ability to manage competing priorities maintain high-level customer service skills engage effectively in teamwork and work independently when required will be key to your success. Strong computer and data entry skills and a working knowledge of MS Office 365 SharePoint and some experience with databases are also important.
You will need to be eligible to hold Blue and Yellow Card clearances.
