This position will end on or before June 30 2030. Permanent status cannot be earned in this grant-funded position. This temporary appointment can be concluded before the stated temporary appointment end date normally with a two-week notice period. Continuation of this temporary appointment is contingent upon grant funding.

Position Summary
The Outreach Specialist for the Responsive Education for Access Community and Hope (REACH) initiative Program reports to the REACH project director in the College of Ethnic Studies. The Outreach Specialist for our Responsive Education for Access Community and Hope (REACH) initiative will serve as part of a cohesive collegial team that is dedicated to providing effective advocacy and response for future students at SF State and their agency self-determination and empowerment while pursuing their educational goals. Under the direct supervision of the Project Director and in close ongoing communication and collaboration with the ASPIRE and Oceana Scholars Program the Outreach Specialist creates implements evaluates and continually improves recruitment initiatives to increase the number of first-year and transfer admit AA&PI students who matriculate at San Francisco State University (SFSU) on the path to college alignment with SF States broader strategic enrollment management goals the incumbent is responsible for planning and delivering programs for establishing and/or sustaining viable pathways to enhance the recruitment of academically prepared AA&PI students through partnerships with K-12 schools community colleges and other four-year institutions. The incumbent is also responsible for developing precollege programs and events to assist students with topics such as academic preparation scholarships financial aid and financial literacy and admissions/applications processes.
The incumbent collaborates closely with on-campus partners such as AA&PI Student Organizations the Asian American Studies Department the College of Ethnic Studies Educational Opportunity Pathway Programs (EOPP) TRIO Student Support Services Metro Academies College Success Program and other offices/departments within the Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs cabinet areas. The incumbent educates and collaborates with the public (including but not limited to parents alumni public policy entities community-based organizations and University stakeholders) regarding admissions requirements policies and processes for outreach and recruitment programs for AA&PI students and best practices for the successful matriculation orientation and first year retention/persistence. The incumbent will work to improve outcomes related to the success development inclusion retention and experience of AA&PI students by assisting with efforts to identify and eliminate systemic and institutional barriers as well as building the capacity of individual planning delivering and evaluating efforts the incumbent will utilize best practices and applicable theory/models of student development educational equity and social justice as informed by scholarship in the field to engage in thoughtful analysis of data about AA&PI students.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree and/or Ph.D/Ed.D in education student development ethnic studies or other academic field related to the primary duties of the position;
Demonstrated experience working effectively to support the academic success and social integration of Asian American and Pacific Islander students in a higher education setting; and
Proven understanding of and ability to appropriately apply student development theories as they relate to students of color and other historically marginalized student populations as well as social justice models of organizational change.
