The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity on our APAC Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) team for a Compliance Director APAC South located in this role you will provide direct oversight for complex elements of Abbotts compliance program in the APAC South region (Singapore/Malaysia/Philippines Thailand Indonesia Australia and New Zealand) across all of our business units. You will be responsible for directing the development and implementation of the OECs compliance program including training risk management and monitoring. Additionally you will direct and manage the APAC South compliance team.
What Youll Do
The Compliance Director performs the following with moderate supervision from OEC leadership (e.g. Ethics and Compliance Officer).
Provide leadership guidance and support to all levels of key divisional business functions on complex ethics and compliance issues including policy interpretation and requirement compliance risk assessment trend analysis and best practice recommendations.
Resolves complex ethics and compliance matters that have significant impact to Abbott.
Directs and conducts periodic reviews and updates related to complex OEC policy and divisional/affiliate procedures ensuring clarity applicability and compliance to OEC policy and external requirements with minimal supervision from the ECO.
Develops updates implements and delivers OECs comprehensive training program on complex OEC and divisional/affiliate policies and procedures.
Provides oversight to corporate and/or divisional monitoring process to ensure compliance with OEC/affiliate policies and procedures. Reviews industry trends and internal results and recommends corrective actions.
Partners with the ECO and business on compliance audits oversees the fulfillment of auditor requests acts as liaison between business and auditors during on site activities evaluates and assists the businesses with responses to all complex preliminary findings and recommendations guides the business in preparing corrective action to address complex and highly complex findings and recommendations.
Oversees all Affiliate Compliance Committees at the affiliate level and provides input on violation process. Reviews internal trends and implements corrective actions.
Provides leadership and guidance on proposed commercial programs identifies complex legal and regulatory issues analyzes alternatives and works with legal as appropriate to propose solutions to the business.
Possesses in-depth knowledge of Abbott businesses and knowledge of the broader business impact.
Leads cross-functional teams on complex issues or projects.
Has direct reports with people management responsibility located in APAC South.
Assists in selecting recruiting onboarding or otherwise training direct team and may also assist other OEC team members.
Accountable to the APAC Ethics and Compliance Officer and executive-level divisional/country management
Assigned matters/business units have significant impact to Abbotts Compliance Program
Operates with autonomy and limited supervision
Responsible for directing and managing the OEC team for APAC South
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree (BS/BA) is required.
Advanced degree such as MBA Masters JD or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
Minimum of 8-10 years experience with exposure to business functions such as compliance legal regulatory affairs governmental affairs and finance.
Experience working in medical device or life sciences industry preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to Excel file management PowerPoint presentations.
Experience with data analytics. May include building iterating and managing reports and/or dashboards in relevant systems such as PowerBI or Tableau.
Must have strong English written and verbal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels.
Oral and/or written proficiency in other Asian languages a plus.
