Te Whiwhinga Mahi The opportunity
We are seeking a Lecturer in Fine Arts to contribute to teaching studio supervision and creative research across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The successful candidate will teach in contemporary studio settings providing high-quality research-informed learning and assessment that supports diverse creative practices. This includes supporting students to develop as culturally competent art makers and thinkers in Aotearoa New Zealand.
You will supervise postgraduate students contribute to curriculum development and help strengthen the profile of the Fine Arts programme through innovative pedagogical approaches industry engagement and creative research outputs. The role also includes service contributions to the School and wider University including participation in assessment committees and academic citizenship.
The workload allocation for this position is 40% teaching 40% research and 20% service.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).
The remuneration range is $99788 - $119204 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

He kōrero mōu About you
You will hold a PhD in Fine Arts or a related field and be an active creative practitioner and researcher with a strong commitment to studio-based teaching. You will demonstrate the potential for continued research excellence and teaching leadership and bring:
- The ability to teach effectively in contemporary studio environments supporting students technical conceptual and cultural development.
- Capability to engage with te ao Māori in your teaching practice and contribute to culturally responsive learning environments aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A commitment to educating students toward cultural competence and supporting diverse learners.
- A strong creative research profile with outputs such as exhibitions publications performances or other recognised forms of artistic research.
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues students and community or industry partners.
- Experience in postgraduate supervision and curriculum development (or a readiness to develop in these areas).
