Position: Academic Advisement Coordinator

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Registration and Records

Reports to: Director of Registration and Records

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary advisor for applicants to competitive health programs.
  • Develop and coordinate the academic advisement program to ensure that students at all locations have access to academic advisors via email.
  • Assess diverse needs of students who use the advising services and adjust the structure of the program to address those needs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the academic advisement program and implement procedures to correct identified deficiencies and problems.
  • Recommend procedural changes for academic advisement issues.
  • Develop and prepare advising materials such as brochures handouts general information summaries advisor manuals and training documents and ensures that the advisement website documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Perform other duties assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field *and* two (2) years of work experience.

**Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.**

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years experience with student academic advising including BANNER and Degree Works.
  • Financial aid knowledge.
