Younker 5 is a dynamic 22-bed Renal Transplant and Urology unit proudly home to Central Iowas only transplant center. Our team specializes in complex medical-surgical care offering nurses the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients undergoing life-changing procedures.

As a Nursing Supervisor youll lead a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. We emphasize safe discharge planning and strive for the best possible outcomes through innovation compassion and teamwork.

After 12 months youll have the opportunity to become Transplant Certified through the American Board of Transplant Certificationan exciting step in advancing your professional journey.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates the UnityPoint Health Des Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in all aspects of care delivery and professional practice.
  • Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance ofhigh quality cost effectiveservices consistent with the needs of the users and the hospitals budgetary guidelines.
  • Provides clinical leadership by directing coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner allowing for flexibility.
  • Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinaryteam work.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Remains competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrates personal andprofessionalgrowth and promotesthe same among team members.
  • Exhibits discretion and sound judgmentin all aspects of the job.
  • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care. Remains current on law/regulation changes recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance.
  • Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe efficient operation of the department as needed.
  • Assists in developing annualbudgetandtakes actionwhen appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources.
  • Implementsevidence basedpracticestrategies to meet the patient care needs. Assistsin the achievement of quality improvement objectives and takesnecessary modifications for attainment of goals.
  • Interviews orients trains schedules evaluate disciplines and terminate staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret apply and follow personnel policies/procedures.
  • RepresentsUPHDMin a professional manner. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.
  • Creates an environment thatpromotes staff empowerment.
  • Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of servicesto the hospital.
  • Is able toinstruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintained intervening whennecessary to problem solve.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree. BSN preferred.

Experience:

  • Two years experience as registered nurse (acute)

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Current Iowa license as a registered nurse.
