Job Responsibilities:
- Providing nursing services and school health support in the schools as determined and assigned by the Director of School Health Services including but not limited to:
- implementing mandatory health screenings
- implementing food allergy protocols and health policies
- health services programming
- immunization compliance.
- Providing direct clinical nursing services as needed in the school health office or for field trips/special school activities
- Performing health data computer entry medication management and general health information management
- Working collaboratively with other school nurses in the district
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts per the Massachusetts Board of Registry for Nursing.
Current certification for CPR and AED as a healthcare provider per the American Heart Association
Prior experience working as a registered nurse in school health child health community health or a relevant pediatric/adolescent clinical care setting
Ability to assume the full scope of responsibilities of the school nurse position
Knowledgeable of the pertinent regulations governing school nursing practice in Massachusetts the guidelines and standards of care established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as applicable to the policies and procedures established by the Needham Public Schools (NPS).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure as a School Nurse
