Hiring Salary: $26.54/Hourly
THIS IS A PART-TIME GRANT-FUNDED POSITION UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2028 (20 HOURS PER WEEK)
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Associate contributes to a research project focused on investigating signaling pathways and neural circuits that influence motivational states associated with chronic alcohol tolerance dependence and related comorbidities. The work will primarily utilize Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) an invertebrate model system for studying alcohol dependence.
Responsibilities- Conducts locomotion analysis.
- Analyzes state-dependent locomotion of C. elegans (ethanol tolerance).
- Analyzes ethanol preference and persistent seeking behaviors. Drug screening:
- Identifies small molecules that modulate chronic ethanol tolerance preference and persistent seeking.
- Performs other duties as required.
QualificationsEDUCATION:Doctoral Degree.
EXPERIENCE:Three (3) years of research experience. Must have completed three (3) years as a Postdoctoral Scholar.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and skills specifically involving the analysis of alcohol-related behaviors in C. elegans (e.g. locomotion chemical seeking etc.) will be considered a significant advantage.
- Peer-reviewed original research article publication(s) as first author using molecular techniques and behavioral analysis of C. elegans on the study of neuroadaptation are required.
- Expertise in microinjection (C. elegans) is highly desired.
