Job Summary

Definition

Definition: Under general supervision provides skilled plumbing services supervises plumbing staff and assists the Construction Superintendent in preparing estimates and schedules for plumbing portions of the SRPMIC construction and maintenance projects. This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt and considered a DRIVING position and a working supervisor. May be required to work on call and weekend hours.

Examples of Tasks

1. Provides skilled plumbing services in Community construction and maintenance projects and assists Construction Superintendent in evaluation and recommending solutions and preparing cost estimates and schedules for preconstruction and plumbing portions of projects.

2. Supervises plumbing staff in Community projects by reading and interpreting engineered plans or work narratives and implementing appropriate labor forces.

3. Assists Superintendent in preparing competitive estimates and bides for plumbing portions of Community projects; assists in preparing requests for payment.

4. Monitors work in progress and updates and provides necessary project schedules for the plumbing portions of Community projects; assists in maintaining daily weekly and quarterly work logs for plumbing portions of projects and prepares bi-weekly time cards for plumbing staff

5. Reads and interprets engineered plans or work narratives.

6. Assists the Superintendent in insuring that Community construction and maintenance workplaces conform to OSHA standards.

7. Performs other job related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operation.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of principles concepts methods techniques and practices related to the plumbing portions of construction and maintenance of single family housing Community buildings and Community infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards as they pertain to construction and maintenance of single family housing Community buildings Community infrastructure and their related systems.
  • Knowledge of principles concepts methods techniques and practices related to estimating the costs for plumbing portions of Community projects.
  • Knowledge of principles concepts methods techniques and practices relative to scheduling plumbing portions Community projects.

  • Skill in determining work solutions and evaluating construction work in progress for plumbing portions of Community projects; skill in providing leadership to staff.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with field staff consulting engineers contractors public officials and representatives of outside agencies and organizations.

  • Ability to manage supervise and evaluate personnel; able to gather interpret and compile reports.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Graduation from High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years experience in in journey-level plumbing work. Must be certified plumber.
  • Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of experience and training that will allow the candidate to satisfactorily meet and perform the duties required of the position may be considered in meeting the stated minimum qualifications.
  • Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19 Underfill.

Special Requirements

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of an extensive background check and drug screening.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Drivers License
