Head of Model Risk Portfolio Management & Frameworks

The role creation is subject to the Works Council positive advice and implementation of the new structure resulted as a consequence of Risk RfA on 1 April 2026.

The team

The Model Risk Portfolio Management & Framework (MRPM&F) leads the oversight of Model Risk of ING Globally defines the Frameworks and Controls and ensures consistent implementation of it globally. It includes managing the aggregated levels of model risk on both global and local levels based on model risk reporting. The position also defines the highest level of requirements for the model validation tribes within MoRM to ensure adherence to the overall MoRM Framework and policy house. A key area of the role is to ensure Model Risk effectively challenges senior management stakeholders on their Model Strategy and Model Portfolio.

For locations with a local MoRM (3 locations currently expectation to grow to 5 in 2026) these positions functionally report to MRPMF. For other locations the MRPMF ensures Model Risk Management is done centrally on behalf of the local CRO.

Specific Function

Model Risk Management (MoRM) in a nutshell; Models are an imperfect reflection of reality. Models impact our business and we use models for decision making throughout ING. We need to manage uncertainties and shortcomings in our models as there are risks involved. Are we sure that the output leads to the right decision Models are a great asset but come with a risk that needs to be managed. The purpose of the Model Risk Management department is to ensure the models can add business value safely. Thats why weve created a cross-domain Model Risk Management Framework helping us identifying classifying recording and validating models we use across ING. For example Credit Market KYC Operational and Pricing models. Together with our stakeholders in e.g. Model Development and COO Risk we try to obtain the best models for ING.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for an energetic naturally collaborative and handson Head of MRPM&F to lead the global portfolio management and framework functions within Model Risk Management. You will challenge (Executive) Model Owners on their model strategy and overall model portfolio quality. You will own and evolve the MoRM Framework and control standards ensure your reporting enables steering of model risk by senior bodies (Local ExCos MBB/SB) and supervisors. You will lead a diverse highperforming team and act with authority and influence at MBB1/MBB2 level across the bank.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

• Challenge 1st LoD on long-term Model Strategy and Model Portfolio and provide recommendations for structural improvements.

• Own and maintain the Model Risk Management framework including policies and procedures. Ensure translation into operations by 1st & 2nd line and enhance processes. Monitor the adherence to and effectiveness of the framework.

• Define and monitor the global model risk appetite and ensure local cascading.

• Deliver high-quality Model Risk Reporting to steer proactively the level of model risk and interact with senior management & local CROs. Define relevant actions to manage observed model risk developments including RAS.

• Act as functional manager for the local MoRM teams.

• Contribute to defining the long-term strategy of the MoRM domain and drive its execution globally.

• Contribute to the multidisciplinary AI Risk Centre of Excellence to ensure ING can safely adopt AI. Ensure alignment in governance of AI and Models while preventing overlap.

• Lead a global team of senior specialists build capabilities coach talent and ensure succession whilst fostering a feedback-rich culture.

• Ensure continuous stakeholder engagement with regulators internal- and external auditors and internal senior management up to supervisory board.

• Wide and deep expertise providing expert competence (15 years); experience defining and delivering MoRM strategy. International experience on driving transformational MoRM programs is a plus

• 1015 years managing frameworks governance and policy to set and deliver objectives over medium/long horizons ensure clarity on roles & responsibilities.

• Proven leadership of crossfunctional crosscountry teams and endtoend highimpact initiatives in framework/governance/change.

• Broad understanding of complex model types across ING; ability to translate technical risk into clear choices for nontechnical audiences and senior management.

• Countervailing power at MBB1/MBB2 while sustaining collaborative relationships with 1st LoD.

• Strategic longterm vision strong coaching skills and the ability to lead in intercultural international crosslocation contexts.

• Risk management helicopter view with attention to detail; familiarity with governance formal regulator interactions and relevant regulations/ethical guidelines.

Head of MRPM&F reports hierarchically to the Global Head of Model Risk Management located in Amsterdam
