TITLE: SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS:As set by state certification authorities

REPORTS TO:Assigned Principals;Director of Special Education

JOB GOAL:Help the students having communicationdisorders to achieve communication thatwill enable them to derive success from theDistricts educational programscommensurate with their capabilities whilepermitting satisfaction to themselvesand benefit to society.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Contributes to the development of the total school philosophyof education.
2. To identify and evaluate students with communication disorders
1. Distribute referral forms to all teachers
2. Obtain written parent consent to evaluate students whodemonstrate aneed for assessment.
3. Select proper evaluative materials as each individualwarrants.
3. To provide therapeutic services based upon appraisal and diagnosis.
1. Determine a caseload on the basis of evaluation in accordance with Staterequirements. This may include pre-school children.
2. Prepare and disseminate a master schedule and case list tothe Principal andDirector of Special Education.
3. Provide individual and/or group therapy for students.
4. Be a part of Eligibility/Placement Teams - formulate shortand long termintervention goals and objectives to meet individual needs.
5. Initiate maintain and continually up-date speech correctionrecords atassigned schools.
6. Review relevant case files including school and healthrecords.
7. Effect appropriate follow-up procedures for pupils dismissedfrom therapy.
4. Guides assists and consults when needed with principals teachers other school personnel and parents.
1. Orient faculty as to policy and procedures.
2. Plan and participate in IEP and Annual IEP ReviewConferences as needed.
3. Plan and conduct interim conferences with parents.
5. Attends and participates in faculty meetings at home assigned buildings.
6. Completes reports and other school related paperwork as required at or before thetime requested.
7. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
8. Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
9. Provides for professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshopsor conferences in area of expertise.
10. Maintains appropriate emotional stability physical health personal appearance andpersonality.
11. Maintains order in therapy sessions in a fair and just manner.

THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST WITH A REDUCED CASE LOAD:

1. Maintain an updated inventory of all speech equipment andmaterials owned bythe Yukon School District.
2. Maintain a duplicate file on each speech student and current list of students receivingspeech services in the district.
3. Administer specific speech-related tests as requested by the testing department.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 182 Day contract
• Pay based on theteacher pay scaleplus an additional 7.5%
• Additional$7500 annual stipend

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
