Job Summary

Primary Purpose

Effectively implement instructional and career-technical programs in alignment with the districts strategic priorities core values mission and vision.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Masters degree in educational administration preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of secondary level operations and curriculum/instruction
  • Strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Ethical and personal integrity

Ability to:

  • Coordinate and lead secondary work including career-technical
  • Interpret data and evaluate instructional and operational effectiveness
  • Manage Perkins V budget and secondary personnel
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to secondary and career-technical education
  • Effectively multitask and problem-solve
  • Efficiently organize and document all work and communications
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders at all levels
  • Use technology for word processing data management presentations and telecommunications

Experience: (preferred)

  • Three years experience as a classroom teacher at the secondary level
  • Three years experience in educational leadership roles
  • Experience in school grants budgets and finance.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional and Operational Management:

  • Serves as leader and general resource person in matters relating to secondary curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Facilitates implements and assists with the development of standards-based curriculum for secondary content areas including career and technical programs.
  • Develop and oversee the integration of a strong competitive STEM K-12 program with a focus on students earning Tier 2 and Tier 3 Certifications.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with buidling administrators and district supervisors in order for schools to achieve STEM designation.
  • Coordinates and implements secondary staff development program.
  • Coordinates the instructional program in a manner consistent with district priorities and goals.
  • Reviews researches prepares and disseminates information pertaining to trends in curriculum development extended learning programs and intervention programs.
  • Analyzes reports and interprets student performance data and makes recommendations for instruction.
  • Coordinates the program of ongoing evaluation of curriculum instruction and career technical programs at the secondary level.
  • Works with secondary principals in the continuing evaluation of programs to improve student achievement.
  • Monitors vertical teaming at the secondary level.
  • Supervises Early Postsecondary Opportunities for students to include but not limited to dual enrollment dual credit and industry certifications
  • Supervises directs coordinates and/or assists with specially funded programs as assigned.

Policy and Law

  • Develops processes and timelines for the implementation of standards-based accountability to reflect local state and legislative directives.
  • Develops submits and monitors plans and budgets for the operation of assigned programs and services; specifically the annual Perkins V Local Application.
  • Assists with the coordination of the process of textbook evaluation selection and adoption at the secondary level.
  • Attends school board meetings.

Personnel Management

  • Supervises and assists with evaluations for 9-12 certified staff including the alternative school in alignment with the TEAM rubric(s).
  • Supervises Graduation Coaches Instructional Coaches and secondary education programming staff and students.
  • Serves as the facilitator of the Lauderdale County School Counselors and Student Service Advisors.

Communication and Community Relations

  • Provides district liaison services on matters pertaining to secondary education especially with higher education institutions.
  • Effectively handles parental concerns.
  • Provides timely and effective communication regarding incidents and/or situations which might impact the district its divisions or its schools to appropriate district office/school personnel.
  • Maintains and cultivates the external and internal image of the district its divisions and its schools.
  • Build relationships with industry partners that will be involved in the CTE Program.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 30 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent district-wide travel; occasional statewide travel
