Job Description:
The Firefighter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of firefighters and fire suppression activities. This role involves managing a team of firefighters ensuring adherence to safety protocols and providing leadership and training to maintain high standards of emergency response and fire prevention.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of firefighters during emergency responses and daily operations. Provide guidance and support for the team.
- Direct firefighting and rescue operations at the scene of fires and other emergencies. Assess situations make critical decisions and allocate resources effectively to ensure successful outcomes.
- Plan and conduct training programs for firefighters to enhance their skills in fire suppression rescue medical response and safety procedures. Ensure all team members are up-to-date with certifications and training requirements.
- Enforce safety protocols and standards to minimize risks to personnel and the public. Conduct safety inspections of equipment and facilities and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
- Oversee the documentation and reporting of incidents including fire reports medical emergencies and rescue operations. Maintain accurate records for review and analysis.
- Respond to Aircraft EMS Hazardous Materials Structural Fire Wildland Fire and other emergencies on the L3Harris-Greenville (L3Harris) Majors Field footprint filling Incident Command System (ICS) roles as directed by the Fire Chief.
- May work Overtime hours to cover shift Captain vacations or sick time.
- Participates in the Majors Fire Department Physical Training Program;
- Maintains proficiency as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician Basic through the Majors Fire Department Training program.
- Successfully completes initial and annual Firefighter Fitness Assessment in accordance with NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance which requires US citizenship
- Must pass and maintain a National Fire Protection Association Standard 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments Physical Exam.
- Initially Before Hiring
- Annually
- Must pass initial and annual Firefighter Fitness Assessment
- Possess a current or able to get a Texas Class B Drivers License.
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Officer I/II certification
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Instructor I/II certification
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Inspector certification
- Hazardous Materials Incident Command certification
- Current Texas State Department of Health Services/National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Emergency Medical Technician -Basic Certification.
- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) certification within one year.
