Description
Preble Street is seeking a full-time Food Programs Street Outreach and Shelter Meal Specialist to work with the Food Programs team at the Food Security Hub. The Specialist will be responsible for transport of meals and work with Preble Street colleagues and community partners to ensure that vulnerable Portland individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness have access to warm nutritious meals daily.
The Specialist will continue that food support of people experiencing homelessness within shelters by being part of the Food Programs team responsible for serving meals conducting product inventory and maintaining clean kitchens and serving areas. While meeting the health and nutrition needs of clients the specialist will participate in meal program coverage collaborate with colleagues and partners to provide a positive meal experiences for people who are experiencing homelessness.
This is a full-time position with a schedule of Saturday Wednesday or Sunday -Thursday. 10:30 am 6:30 pm.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a bachelors degree in social work or related field of study or comparable combination of education and relevant street outreach experience and commercial or institutional foodservice or other culinary experience will be considered.
Specific qualifications include alignment with Preble Streets mission; positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty and a commitment to providing low-barrier services; strong organizational and communication skills and experience working in a team setting with a diverse population; demonstrated skills in outreaching individuals in a variety of environments; effective crisis intervention skills; availability to work weekends and consistent reliable attendance at work as scheduled; and ability to drive a small cargo truck with a valid drivers license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time benefits-eligible position with a pay rate of $23.93/hour. Generous paid time off insurance and retirement plan benefits include:
