Carthage College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to serve as the Club Volleyball Head Coach. This position is responsible for providing leadership instruction and supervision to student-athletes participating in the Club Volleyball program. The coach plays a key role in fostering a positive and safe environment teaching proper volleyball techniques and strategies and supporting the personal and athletic development of all participants in alignment with the mission and values of Carthage College.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend team practices and all competitions for the full duration of the competitive season and/or academic year.
- Lead the clubs executive board and student leaders in organizing and managing all aspects of team operations including practice planning and execution game and travel logistics and accompanying the team to off-campus competitions as needed.
- Ensure the team and program operate in full compliance with Carthage College policies Club Sports guidelines and all league and governing body rules including enforcement of eligibility requirements for all participants.
- Provide over sight and mentorship to student-athletes serving as a positive role model while fostering sportsmanship leadership teamwork and overall academic and personal growth.
- Implement and enforce risk management strategies to ensure student safety during practices competitions and travel.
- Ensure a fair and unbiased try out process and assist in determining appropriate roster sizes.
- Provide updated rosters and travel information to the Director of Club Sports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Club Sports.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching or competitive playing experience in Volleyball preferred.
- Strong understanding of current rules strategies and best practices within the sport.
- Ability to lead and motivate college-aged students in a positive professional manner.
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to Carthage Colleges mission values and policies.
- Must successfully complete a background check and meet Carthage Club Sports eligibility requirements.
