We are seeking an energetic Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team of prevention specialist onsite at a local automotive facility in Chattanooga TN. Our ideal candidate will plan and administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for manufacturing employees suffering from injuries or muscle nerve joint and bone diseases to restore function relieve pain and prevent disability under the supervision of staff Physical Therapist.
What will you be doing in this role
- Carry out and review plan of care provided by Physical Therapist regarding patients condition and follow recommended physical therapy treatment plan.
- Test and measure patients strength motor development sensory perception functional capacity and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
- Administer manual techniques and exercises to improve and maintain function.
- Instruct motivate and assist patient to perform various physical activities and in use of assistant and supportive devices such as crutches canes and prostheses.
- Administer treatments involving application of physical agents.
- Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Administer massage.
- Administer traction to relieve pain.
- Record treatment response and progress in patients chart or enters information into computer.
- Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Assist with fit and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommended modification to Orthotist.
- Confer with Physical Therapist Physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patients health care.
- Assist with utilization review quality assurance program evaluation infection control and safety issues and serve on such committees as needed.
- Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff students and community groups.
- Plan and develop physical therapy research programs and participate in conducting research.
- Help Design and assist in a comprehensive Return to Work program for patients returning from extended leave
- Assess Essential Job Functions of production processes
- Proactive prevention

- Ergonomic program support working to increase the workforces ability to perform their job duties safely and decrease risk of injury
Ideal candidate will:
- Possess strong ergonomic and orthopedic interest and knowledge
- Be energetic professional and dependable
- Work independently take initiative and problem solve
- Possess strong customer service communication and clinical skills
- Effectively manage time and accurately complete tasks
- Have emergency response experience
Education and training required:
- Completion of accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- The required state licensure certification and registration that is in good standing with the state or the ability to obtain the required state licensure
- CPR/AED/BLS certification or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of employment; maintain and provide proof of current certification(s)
- A high degree of professionalism in both written and verbal communication
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment without constant supervision
- Be able to maintain confidentiality
- Basic computer skills including proficiency with databases and with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel
