Key Accountabilities
A sustainable organisation:
Service Delivery
Deliver accurate and timely estimating services through:
Preparing the request for authority to proceed with the tender and gaining the appropriate authorisation
Ensuring that risk analyses are undertaken in accordance with the tendering procedures and the BUs Business Plan
Ensuring that each tender is based on appropriate construction methods is technically and numerically correct and adequate provision is made for both direct and indirect resources
Maintaining accurate document control throughout the tender process
Ensuring that prior to the tender being submitted all documentation is completed accurately and is appropriately authorised
Ensuring that the tender is submitted on time
Where contracts are awarded ensure a comprehensive handover of the Project to the Construction Team including:
Reviewing and comparing contract documentation and the terms of the award against the tender documents and the basis of the tender submission
Briefing the Project Team to ensure that the tender fundamental principles and details are understood by the Project Team and are transferred to the construction phase of the project including all AS9001 and SH&E aspects
Planning
Contribute to the delivery of successful and profitable tendersby:
Planning and scheduling own work to meet required timelines and outputs
Understanding output requirements and timelines for the tender process and clarifying as appropriate
Utilising systems and processes to enable the professional preparation of tenders
Monitoring and reporting on the cost planning of design development
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to the effectiveness of the Estimating function and Tender teams including:
Contributing to the sharing of knowledge and information within own Project /Tender/Team and with internal stakeholders such as Marketing and Business Development
Monitoring the States construction market trends and opportunities including keeping abreast of market pricing from other contractors successes and misses
Being aware of successes and issues within existing projects
Continually improve the quality of tender presentation information and documentation
Consciously seeking ways to improve the provision and quality of tender services provided to the Business Unit/Project teams
Education and Qualifications:
A recognised bachelors degree in an engineering discipline
Minimum 8 years relevant experience
Demonstrated previous project experience as an estimator
Minimum 5 years construction experience in a commercial or supervisory role
Managed self and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver work to $200M
Demonstrated ability to function as part of a larger project team with own responsibilities
Ensuring the right people with the right tools are in place to achieve project deliverables
Experience in multiple types of delivery
Knowledge in most types of projects that BU is engaged in OR alternatively very specialised knowledge relevant to BU
Demonstrated commercial experience includes: planning ahead for duration of estimate deliverable reporting on progress against plan manage and monitor implementation of risk treatment plans
