This position promotes safe quality care through prevention and control of infectious illness by utilizing sound epidemiologic principles and scientific based decision making. Identifies and implements the infection prevention goals and objectives across Logan Health (LH) through strategic planning leadership and consultation with multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in nursing public health epidemiology clinical laboratory science medical technology or related field required.
- Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) preferred or must successfully obtain within two (2) years of hire. Minimum of three (3) years Infection Control experience preferred.
- Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Familiarity with principles of maintaining database integrity preferred.
- Familiarity with CMS Infection Prevention standards preferred. Must possess ability to interpret policies and procedures relating to Infection Prevention and ensure effective application of same.
- Excellent organizational skills detail-oriented a self-starter possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
- Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
Job Specific Duties:
- As applicable to assigned area(s): Partners with the appropriate medical leadership to develop implement and evaluate infection prevention goals and action plans. Reviews and updates the Infection Prevention Plan for LH and maintains and updates Infection Prevention policies in collaboration with leadership.
- Facilitates the Infection Prevention Committee with medical staff as applicable to assigned area(s).
- Maintains current knowledge of federal state and local regulations and informs leaders of appropriate issues.
- In collaboration with the Infection Prevention (IP) team oversees the operations of the infection prevention epidemiology staff and patient hygiene and other infection prevention safety programs as applicable to assigned area(s).
- Performs clinical evaluation of the patient population per assigned department protocol.
- Accountable for surveillance of healthcare acquired and community-acquired infections with reporting to federal state and local Public Health agencies as required by regulations and as applicable to assigned area(s).
- Informs leaders of appropriate issues understands and complies with infection control safety and OSHA procedures and regulations.
- As applicable to assigned area(s): Participates in national collaborative quality improvement projects. Responsible for external reporting of data to the CDCs National Healthcare Safety Network system.
- As applicable to assigned area(s): Ensures appropriate infection prevention education when healthcare associated infections occur during outbreaks and/or when non-compliance with infectioncontrol/OSHA standards.
- As applicable to assigned area(s): Identifies organizational education needs regarding Infection Prevention. Develops and delivers education and feedback on infection prevention behaviors per department protocol. Provides infection prevention training to new employees during orientation.
- Serves as a resource for LH providers and the community regarding infection prevention issues and processes.

Schedule:
Logan Health operates 24 hours per day seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
