The Infection Prevention Specialist works collaboratively with Hospital Epidemiologist to use evidence-based guidelines to identify prevent analyze and monitor infection risks within Roper St. Francis Healthcare Facilities. Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are reported as required by internal and/or external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree in a science related field (i.e. microbiology nursing public health etc.).
Bachelors degree or higher preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years of healthcare related experience. Previous Infection Prevention experience is preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification: Appropriate licensure certification or registration in the profession field of the applicant if applicable. If RN must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC. Certified by the Certification Board of infection Control & Epidemiology (CBIC) is required within the first three years in position. All licensures and/or certifications must be current. Completion of infection control training courses by a recognized professional society (e.g. APIC SHEA) required within first year in position.
Primary Source Verification (if applicable): RN (if applicable) Nursing- SC Labor Licensing and Regulation (LLR): or compact RN state licensing board. and Skills: Computer Internet skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook etc.) is essential. Ability to analyze data problem solve apply evidence-based guidelines and collaborate with other departments on resolution of potential infection risk.
Other: Perform rotating on-call duties including day night weekend and holiday coverage for a 7-day period. Occasionally there are times when longer periods of on-call duties may be required.
