We are the largest community college in Colorado enrolling close to 28000 credit students annually in a diverse service area with broad cultural and recreational activities. We were one of 30 colleges in the initial American Association of Community CollegesPathways Project recently selected as a Most Promising Place to Work in Diverse Magazine and profiled as one of six top community colleges for transfer student success in a recent Aspen Institute publication. TheFacilities department provides maintenance service to students staff and the public in general. Maintains repairs remodels and improves the building mechanical equipment utility systems landscaping snow removal parking lots and performs maintenance repairs and seasonal changeover of motorized equipment. Provide an environment conducive to the education of students.
DUTIES:
Perform General Building Maintenance & other Outdoor Maintenance
Performs general building systems maintenance i.e. makes repairs to roofing systems and flashing siding caulking. Make repairs to damaged drywall and masonry. Make repairs to doors and door hardware including ADA operators. Assists Structural Trades II with re-keying and advanced lock smithing. Maintains and installs cabinets and acoustic ceiling tiles. Other duties as assigned.
Assist Grounds and Nursery II with basic landscaping care. This may include emptying exterior trash cans and collecting recycling and delivering it to pick up areas. Trash removal from grounds and parking lots raking debris and applying fresh landscaping materials to planting beds. Washing vehicles and other equipment inside and out and perform basic maintenance checking oil windshield washer fluid and antifreeze. Snow removal as needed using motorized equipment and hand tools. Snow removal may include on-call responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Assist with HVAC Repairs & Electrical System Repairs
Assists Structural Trade II and Pipe Trades II with repairs of pumps for water and HVAC systems. Performs HVAC maintenance and operation with Pipe Trades II. Performs basic HVAC maintenance to include basic mechanical inspections tightening belts lubricating pumps and replacing filters. Read gauges and visually inspect boilers air handlers motors and pumps. Other duties as assigned.
Assist Structural Trades II Pipe Trades II and Electrician II with trouble shooting low and medium voltage electrical system repairs. This may include replacing electrical receptacles or light fixtures. Replace light bulbs as needed as well as plug in ballasts. Report any other issues to direct supervisor.
Painting & Assist with Remodeling Projects
Performs painting of classrooms study areas restrooms parking lots curbs offices hallways mechanical rooms etc. using sprayers HPLV gun rollers brushes etc. Properly prepares and selects appropriate products that are compatible with existing surfaces. Prepares area by using caulk paint removers solvents grinders rust remover bead/ sand blaster wire brush scrapers etc. Apply various paint products to include enamels acrylics latex textures epoxy lacquer polyurethane and varnishes etc. Orders paint and supplies and correspond with product representatives. Schedules and keeps records of rooms and areas painted. Select and utilize proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) stay current with Respirator Fit Test requirements utilize all appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures. Ensure safety of by standers and/or co-workers by working off peak hours or barricading area. Other duties as assigned.
Assists Structural Trades II with building remodeling to meet the needs of college occupants. Assists with demolition framing hanging sheet rock finishing drywall. Installing ceiling grid systems. Hanging doors and windows. Installing floor tiles carpet cove base cupboards shelving white boards painting cleaning. Other duties as assigned.
Assisting with Custodial Dept & Assemble/Repair Equipment & Furniture
Assist Custodial department as needed with re-stocking supplies maintaining trash receptacles floor care/ maintenance and disinfecting surfaces. This position may act as a supplement to the custodial crew during periods of custodial absenteeism. Other duties as assigned.
Repairs and assembles equipment to include modular furniture cabinets counter tops shelving carts desks tables displays chairs dollies chair carts bulletin boards classroom technology and flooring. Performs maintenance and repair of snow removal mowing and maintenance equipment. Other duties as assigned.
Assist Maintenance team with organizing inventorying and distributing equipment furniture and supplies. Assist Mail and Receiving with mail distribution as back up to Materials Handler II.
Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.(Part-time experience will be pro-rated)
Substitutions:
Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program related to the position will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
OR
Lived Experience Qualifications: Two (2) years working experience volunteering as a carpenter helper painting assisting someone working on plumbing or working on HVAC.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Operating Equipment & Tools: Knowledge of equipment & tools to repair and work on HVAC Drywall Plumbing Painting Flooring and Remodel Projects.
Customer Service: Providing customer service while working on projects around staff and students.
Building & Construction Skills: Knowledge of how to repair roof repair damaged drywall HVAC Repairs Remodel including demolition framing hanging & finishing drywall install flooring Painting Plumbing
Public Safety: Keeping safety in mind while working on all projects.
Communication: Able to communicate effectively with supervisor and staff.
Maintenance: Basic knowledge of landscaping equipment maintenance Floor care disinfecting surfaces washing vehicles and snow removal.
Technology: Record time sheets input work orders/data base read and send emails.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Must possess and maintain a current valid State of Colorado Drivers License to operate company vehicles. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check in include a motor vehicle record (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or convictions of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to the job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions it is your responsibility to provide Front Range Community College Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges.
NOTE:An essential function of this position requires exertion of up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (i.e. lifting equipment pushing grounds equipment removing snow etc.). It also requires constant or frequent climbing stooping kneeling crouching pushing pulling and reaching. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions on labels machinery and in manuals etc. Also must be able to interpret written directives policies guidelines and memos.
