Job Summary

As an IDEXX Immunology Laboratory Technicianyou will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform molecular laboratory testing that helps to serve professionals in the biomedical and life science fields across the United States. IDEXX BioAnalytics scientific expertise takes a novel approach to the discovery of new diagnostic tests that supplement a robust portfolio of products and services. We partner with Pharma BioTech and Academia (the scientific community) to improve animal and human health.

In this Role:

  • You will check-in incoming serologic samples for testing. You will communicate with other Columbia labs and Lab Support Services (LSS) to locate samples.
  • You will enter clinical cases create templates and roadmaps using our Lab Information Management System (LIMS)
  • You will perform serologic testing and immunoassay procedures importing/uploading data interpreting raw data and fully understanding when to order secondary testing.
  • You will recognize equipment failure and notify supervisor or team lead
  • You will aliquot working stocks of positive and negative control sera and maintain inventory
  • You will restock lab supplies as needed and inform supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Performs equipment maintenance activities.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.
  • You may cross train in PCR or LSS

What do you need to succeed

  • The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in a science-related field.
  • You have a general science background and micro-pipetting skills.
  • Analytical thinking while operating lab instruments and when reading the tests results.
  • You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues.
  • You are looking forward to working in a team.
  • You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely.
  • You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
  • You have the ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as appropriate.
  • You are able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab standing and sitting for extended periods of time phone & computer use extended reach lifting up to 50lb and specific vision ability close color depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a laboratory so there is potential exposure to biohazards agents known to cause zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:

This is a full-time (40 hr/wk) 1st shift position with hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (there is some flexibility possible in the start/end times). Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
