Job Duties:
Coordinates the effective delivery of center or academic programs providing support for quality programs for student services in the center and may supervise student staff.
Will provide day to day individual and group services to qualified participants in the TRIO Student Support Services program focusing more intensely on individual services to students. The UW-Superior TRIO Student Support Services grant is a federal award on a five-year cycle. This position carries an individual caseload of 60-80 students while providing required and optional services per grant requirements. This position requires evening and weekend hours with some regional state and national travel. This position is based on the UW-Superior campus in Superior WI.
Provides supplemental instruction for students enrolled in classroom online and/or laboratory course(s) and assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning and promote high-impact practices.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and may train other staff in use of said instructional techniques
- May participate in strategic planning and grant proposals for instructional development new teaching methods and program direction
- Assesses learner performance and may prepare reports recommending instructional improvements
- Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties

UW Standard Job Responsibilities:
- Works to develop and/or design curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction within that discipline.
- Assesses learner performance and may prepare reports recommending instructional improvements.
- Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and may train other staff in use of said instructional techniques.
- Provides supplemental instruction for students enrolled in classroom online and/or laboratory courses in a variety of formats such as one-on-one sessions group sessions peer mentor sessions and seminars.

Additional duties specific to the position:
- Identifies designs plans delivers and evaluates academic support center programming and student resources.
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for academic support center programming.
- Assists students in assessing their interests skills and values; and assists with processing applications to match appropriate fields of study and career options.
- Identifies and refers students to appropriate institutional resources and follows-up on referrals.
- Coordinates and supports delivery of center programs including application processing and intake/center program offering-related advising in support of quality delivery of student support services.
- Recruit retain engage support and evaluate 160 program participants as per grant requirements on an annual basis as coordinated by Director.
- Perform daily office functions including but not limited to arranging room reservations managing purchasing supply orders initiating facilities requests and technology help tickets and maintaining technology.
- Record pertinent data in Blumen Online TRIO for annual performance reporting and participant tracking.
- Represent the TRIO Student Support Services program and serve as contact for faculty and campus departments.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the needs of students with high risk of attrition.
- Able to write and/or administer a large grant interpret federal regulations and prepare reports.
- Strong public speaking skills in public both large and small groups.
- Ability to collaborate with academic administrative and non-academic peers in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of creating facilitating or evaluating high quality programming.
- Knowledge of college admissions requirements financial aid processes and academic advising strategies.
- Skills in teaching organizational and academic skills to assist students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to implement and/or support student retention initiatives.
- Knowledge of financial aid processes scholarship opportunities and resources to assist students navigating financial challenges related to their education.
- Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles Policy 615.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in education counseling human services or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of three (3) years of appropriate and relevant experience working in higher-education setting
- Valid drivers license
This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working with TRIO or comparable programs
- Masters Degree in education counseling human services or related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in student staff supervision program development and evaluation and compliance with federal regulations
- Proficiency in utilizing data management software systems to track student progress including but not limited to: Blumen or Student Access PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $42000 - $46000 annually (10-month appointment).
