Job Summary

RN Med/Surg Telemetry Traveler (Nights) Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective patient care on Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units. The RN performs assessments administers medications monitors patient conditions and delivers evidence-based nursing care in alignment with unit standards and hospital protocols. This role requires the ability to float between Med/Surg and Telemetry units based on staffing and patient needs. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members supports patient education and maintains accurate clinical documentation throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care within Med/Surg and Telemetry units according to established clinical standards.

  • Perform patient assessments and implement individualized care plans.

  • Monitor cardiac telemetry interpret rhythms and report abnormal findings promptly.

  • Administer medications treatments and interventions safely and accurately.

  • Document assessments interventions and patient progress in the medical record.

  • Educate patients and families regarding care plans medications and discharge instructions.

  • Collaborate with physicians care managers and interdisciplinary staff to support patient outcomes.

  • Float between Med/Surg and Telemetry units based on operational needs.

  • Maintain adherence to infection control safety and patient privacy standards.

  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency interventions as needed.

Qualifications
  • Current and valid Illinois RN license.

  • Current BLS (AHA) certification.

  • Current ACLS (AHA) certification.

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Competency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation.

Shift Details
  • Night shift traveler assignment.

  • Must be able to float to Med/Surg and Telemetry units.

  • Schedule based on departmental needs.

  • Illinois.
