Clinical Lab Scientist/Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Specialist (CLS/MT/MLS)

Schedule: this position is for mid-shift Clinical Lab Scientist with specialty in Microbiology. Microbiology experience is preferred.

How youll contribute

AClinical Lab Scientist who excels in this role:

• Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.

• Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality effective manner.

• Analyzes test results for accuracy acceptability and critical limits and reports/documents results per organizational standards.

• Performs automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment and reports them to the patient physician or registered nurse.

• Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.

• Performs and determines accuracy of technical lab procedures.

• Maintains records of procedures performed the patient results and the quality control required for all procedures performed. Maintains accurate and complete records of all quality control tests completed.

• Assures that all out-of-control procedures are followed and that there is documentation of remedial actions taken.

• Performs all preventive maintenance of laboratory instrumentation as assigned. Reads and understands all procedure manuals on an annual basis.

• Collects biological specimens. Prepares and forwards biological specimens to appropriate reference laboratory according to departmental procedures.

• Provides instruction to students/new employees about procedures and departmental policies.

• Checks available supplies and reports deficiencies to supervisor in a timely manner.

What were looking for
Applicants should have a bachelors degree in Clinical Lab Sciences or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or eligibility required.
